International
Groups
Groups that deal with international issues or languages have been few in number throughout the years of this school; however, there are some very significant groups that still exist to this day. The following groups show the International Groups that have been a part of or still remain as organized groups on campus.
The English Club - The English Club was organized in 1938, under the direction of a staff member, Mrs. Mattoon. As she stated, "It is to be an honor society, based on scholarship and social qualities," (Salmagundi, 1938).
The French Club - The French Club, a group that focused on the French culture, was established in 1982.
International Students Club - The International Students Club was organized in 1990. Any interested student, whether American or international, is encouraged to join this group. The purpose of this group is to provide a support group for international students, to teach cross-cultural communication, and to learn about and teach different cultures and lifestyles. The International Students Club still exists today, and is very active, under the direction of Dr. Guy Gallagher.
Amnesty International - Amnesty International was established as a group in 1994.
