Men's Basketball

Although basketball began at Aroostook State Normal School very early in the history of the school, it was not until later that it became a men's sport, as there were not enough male students at first to have enough players for a men's team.

Once there were enough male students to play basketball, the sport boomed and was well-participated. In fact, in the early 1970's basketball was so popular that the school supported two teams, a varsity and junior varsity men's basketball team.

The onset of basketball as a sport at Aroostook State Normal School has proved to be quite successful. The sport continues to be played and well-participated. Additionally, with the recruiting efforts of Coach Karl Henrikson, the men's basketball team has been fortunate to accept players from all over the world, providing the school with a good number of international student athletes. Also, under Coach Henrikson, the men's basketball team has been very successful in competition, and that success will undoubtedly continue in the years to come.
