Softball

Baseball was introduced to the students of Aroostook State Normal School in 1937, but it was not until many years later, in 1989, that softball became an intercollegiate sport for women at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. The techniques and skills of playing the game of softball were taught as early as the 1940's, but it did not catch on as an intercollegiate sport for nearly a half a century.

While softball is still a fairly new sport to the University of Maine at Presque Isle, the teams have had little success thus far; however, with time, the softball team should grow and will hopefully continue as an intercollegiate sport for the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
