Tennis
Tennis was introduced to the students of ASNS very early on its infancy. For a long time, tennis was not an intercollegiate sport, but was played as an extracurricular activity. When tennis did become an intercollegiate sport, the school was very successful. In 1940 and 1942 the tennis team for ASNS won the Tri-Normal School Championship. The other two normal schools that competed were Castine Normal School and Washington State Normal School (Machias).
After World War II, tennis as an intercollegiate sport faded out until its return in the early 1970's. In 1979 the tennis team came in third place for the state of Maine. Since about that time, tennis has not existed as an intercollegiate sport.
