Field Hockey

Field Hockey began as a sport at ASNS in 1942 and continued as an intercollegiate sport for a long time. In 1979 the girls won the State Championship (MAIAW State Title) in field hockey. That year, they lost only one game in the regular season, and Ann Mercier held the best record for goalies in the state, and Deb Madore was the high scorer for the state of Maine.

In addition, in 1983 the Field Hockey Team won the NAIA District 5 Tournament under Coach of the year, Dianne Rancourt. This win (2-1 over Castleton State College) recorded the University of Maine at Presque Isle's first ever NAIA title.

Unfortunately, in 1987 a Field Hockey team was not assembled, so 1986 marks the last time that this school had a field hockey team.
